Dirt

Children are great in the fact that they don't understand "dirty" at Audrey's age. Her new favorite thing is to play in the trash (any trash, including her diaper pail). She goes over to the trash can du jour, looks at me and says, "doodee?", which means dirty, then starts playing. I try to explain that it's dirty and not a toy etc, but clearly that hasn't been absorbed into her brain yet. Is there such thing as selective learning? It takes her 1 time to learn which button to push to make something beep/blink/blip, but doesn't seem to learn not to play in the trash.
